  * [[wp>大內區|大內區]] 舊稱內庄 此聚落的成庄時間應稍晚於石仔瀨，又位處較上游處，因此該地地名是相對於石仔瀨庄而言，位處教較「內」部的「庄」頭，故名。
    * 「石仔瀨」是由北進入大內鄉的門戶，濱曾文溪，「瀨」即為淺溪之意，因曾文溪至此由丘陵地進入平原，流速減緩開始堆積，使得溪底礫石散布，故稱。
    * 「二重溪」 曾文溪在本鄉二溪與頭社、嗚頭間繞了三個大彎，通常凹岸(攻擊坡、基蝕坡)有顯著的惡地地形，凸岸(滑走坡)則形成河階台地；掘鑿曲流所形成的河階台地(段丘)相當發達，係全省最標準的形式；且其面積之大，段丘數之多，為台灣各溪谷之首。曾文溪不僅為台灣的第四大河流，對二重溪更是可以用「愛恨交織」四個字來形容，因為早年不論是由楠西、玉井的「內山」西行「出山」到內庄，或由善化進入此地，皆必須涉渡曾文溪兩次，如後者必須經過「北勢洲橋」和「二溪景觀大橋」兩處，故本地名為「二重溪」。
  * 大內區7成土地為低海拔山坡地，曾文溪蜿蜒曲折流過，境內曲流、河階地形發達，每當秋高氣爽之季，曾文溪畔兩岸甜根子草盛開，一片白茫茫的花海吸引遊客賞景。曲流切割形成特殊的月世界惡地地形景觀，主要分布於環湖里和二溪里，二溪月世界形狀如赤裸龍，是地質、生態旅遊最佳場所。...區長李義隆
